Benjamin KC's Story
Update 6/29/26:
Benny got to spend a week away from SPIN at a fosterer's home! Big guy is back and settling in. It turns out his favorite place is up on top of the kitty condos, perched up high over us all! If you and Benjamin choose each other, we did learn that he is going to need a bit of time and patience to settle in. Kinda like a lot of us, he isn't so good with change and can get pretty shut down with transitions. He is a sensitive and sweet boy, and we just don't have a good way of telling him so that he understands that everything is going to be okay.

--------------
--------------

This gentle giant is an absolutely sweet lunk of a cat! Benjamin came in along with his housemate Lily from his first home into SPIN's care. A lengthy mature kitty with the face of a lion, Ben has been doing his best to keep his stress in check but you can tell he is a bit anxious with this transition. He is a sensitive guy, who seems to be seeking a bit of comfort (and a chance to steal her food) from Lily, but she has been giving him more of a cold shoulder instead. We decided to separate them to see if it would help them both decompress.

In general, when homeless kitties come in off of the mean streets as strays, they tend to think they found paradise at SPIN with regular meals and plenty of human attention and quickly thrive. In contrast, we find that cats like Ben and Lily that come in from loving homes have a harder time adjusting to life at SPIN. They are used to living in a proper home environment, and as much as we try to recreate that, we know it isn't the same. Regardless, the SPIN volunteers will make sure he gets plenty of love and attention, and we know Ben will flourish!

Ben, who would do fine being adopted with or without Lily, will make a marvelous companion for someone who wants a friendly, mellow lion king to patrol their household. My guess is that he could probably make it work out with other household pets if he was given a chance at patient proper introductions. He has not shown even a hint of aggression, making me suspect that respectful human children would be perfectly okay with him as well. If you are looking for a plug-and-play house cat who simply likes hanging around you, Big Benjamin could be your guy!

------------

Stray Pets In Need (SPIN) has weekly open adoption hours where you can drop in and meet our cats at 5 Overbrook Terrace, Natick, MA Fridays 5-7pm and Saturdays/Sundays 3-6pm.

If you are thinking of adopting Benjamin or any other of the SPIN kitties, before you come by consider first filling out an application to speed up the process:
www.straypetsinneed.org/adoptions/adoption-application.

All of our available cats are listed at: www.straypetsinneed.org/adoptions/adoptable-pets.

We look forward to meeting you and your family!
