Bahstet and Kasha's Story

Bahstet and Kasha are looking for a new home. Could it be yours?

Meet Bahstet & Kasha

Bahstet (black and white tuxedo) and Kasha (orange tabby) are a bonded pair who came into my life as Tart and Tang in February, 2024.

They are just shy of 3 years old.

From the beginning, it was clear that they were sensitive, observant, and cautious cats—more the quiet watchers than the bold explorers.

I knew when I adopted them that they were skittish and reserved, and I was completely prepared to love them exactly as they were.

Over time, I’ve learned that while their caution is real, it isn’t the whole story.

Both cats show a marked comfort around women, including my girlfriend and even female strangers, and they have surprised us with how affectionate and relaxed they can be in those moments.

Unfortunately, they are fearful of men in general, and especially men in uniform—which has been a challenge, as I am active duty in the Marine Corps and will remain so. Even the universal magic of Churu hasn’t fully bridged that gap.

Despite this, Bahstet and Kasha are healthy, fully up to date on vaccines, and wonderfully well-adjusted in many other ways.

They do great with other cats and even dogs—Kasha, in particular, seems to genuinely like dogs, which is not something you see every day.

They are very much a bonded pair (or at least Bahstet is firmly bonded to Kasha).

You’ll often find them curled up together, sharing beds, shelves, drawers, or any cozy nook they can claim as their own.

The photos capture this perfectly: whether tucked into a drawer, nestled under furniture, or perched together observing the room, they move through life as a team.

BAHSTET
Bahstet is the more outgoing of the two and continues to grow braver with time.

She is playful, confident in her own way, and delightfully bossy.

When I’m away at work, she will actively seek out my girlfriend for attention and pets, and she has started to show curiosity and initiative rather than simply hiding.

She likes to be involved and has a strong personality once she feels safe.

KASHA
Kasha is gentler and more reserved, but she has a very specific key to her heart: a little bit of outside time.

A patio or balcony is perfect. A few minutes outside in the morning and evening makes a world of difference.

With that small routine, Kasha will come out, join the “Churu party,” and sit in the living room with us. Without it, she tends to retreat and hide. She knows what she needs, and when she wants something she will say something.

Bahstet and Kasha will bring a cat’s joy and peace to your life. Are you ready to meet them and decide that they are purrrrrfect for you????? Their bags are packed, and they are ready to go to your home for a Meet and Greet.

If you would like to meet them, the first step is to complete the Humane Association of the Lowcountry (HAL) Adoption Application located on the HAL website.
The URL is:
http://www.halsc.org

Look forward to meeting you,
Bahstet and Kasha

Ev
