Anise's Story
Meet Anise!

Anise came to Trash Cat Rescue from an outdoor cat colony in rough shape - thin, undersized, and struggling to survive. She was so tiny that we initially thought she was a kitten, until the veterinarian discovered she already had all of her adult teeth!

When Anise first arrived in foster care, she was absolutely terrified of being indoors. However, given her condition, returning her outside simply wasn't an option. She wasn't thriving, and we feared she wouldn't survive on her own.

Building trust with Anise took time, patience, and plenty of treats (plus a backscratcher for those extra-cautious pets). Then one day, everything changed. She bumped her head against the backscratcher, accepted pets while eating, and slowly began to realize that people could be pretty wonderful.

Now, Anise is a curious, affectionate little cat with a big personality. She loves supervising her foster mom during daily cat chores and is always the first to greet her at the door. Whether she's patiently waiting for pets or chirping for attention, Anise makes it clear that she enjoys being part of the action.

Anise absolutely adores headbutting hands, exposing her belly (but no touching), and chirping when she is excited. Like many cats, she has her boundaries and prefers soft, respectful pets along her back. When she's feeling overstimulated, she'll politely let you know with a gentle paw tap (no claws) or an air bite. Because she's still learning to fully trust and communicate with people, Anise would thrive with a patient adopter who can read her body language and respect her need for occasional space. For this reason, she would do best in an adult-only home.

She gets along well with other cats and enjoys having feline friends around, but she'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only.

Favorite Toy: Bumblebee on a string
Favorite Treat: Churu (especially fish flavors, though she's not picky!)
Favorite Lounge Spot: A sunny windowsill where she can watch the birds

Anise is estimated to be almost two years old. She has been spayed, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, vaccinated, and tested negative for FIV and FeLV.

Anise isn't the kind of cat who falls in love on day one, but if you're willing to give her a little time to build trust in you, she'll reward you with head bumps, happy chirps, and the joy of watching a once-frightened cat blossom into a beloved companion. Could you be the person she's been waiting for?
