Abyss's Story
Meet Miss Abyss, Missy Abyssie, Byssie for short.

She is nearly three years old, fourteen pounds of gorgeous, glossy black cat, and she has a very small meow that does not match her body at all. This is perhaps the most important thing to know about her.

Byssie came to rescue when her family had to move and couldn't take her with them. It wasn't the plan, but she's settling in and cautiously open to what comes next.

She likes attention and affection on her own terms, which is a completely reasonable way to live. When she's into it, she's into it. When she's not, she will tell you, and occasionally that communication involves a nip. She's not mean about it. She's just clear.

She does enjoy a good play session. Her preferred method involves disappearing behind a hanging sheet and batting at a wand toy from the other side, all the drama, none of the exposure. Ghost Abyss, if you will.

She is also a fan of naps and snacks. Honestly, same. She did go a little hard on the snacks at some point, which is understandable and relatable, and she could use a home that will help her slim down gradually.

Her green eyes are stunning, her coat is gorgeous, and she carries her fourteen pounds like someone who has fully accepted herself, which is honestly aspirational.

Byssie has lived with other cats before. She could be an only pet, or live with another very chill cat.

A calm, quiet household without young kids or a lot of chaos is where she will truly thrive.

She is a lot of cat in the best possible way. The right person is going to be absolutely smitten.

Abyss is currently at our PetSmart location on Woodward. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org.

Adoption fees are as follows: $175 for a single cat or kitten, $225 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment.
