Pyxis's Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.<br/>Hatch Date: 2024<br/><br/>Pyxis (aka Pixie) is a beautiful female light blue and white Budgie. She is 1 1/2 years old.<br/><br/>Pyxis was surrendered because her previous guardian said her daughter was allergic to Pyxis. While Pyxis lived in her prior home, she was never allowed out of her cage. She had toys to play with and would fly and hop from perch to perch in her cage. Pyxis is not hand tame as her guardian did not work with her to allow her out of the cage and develop a trusting relationship.<br/><br/>Pyxis was skittish in her foster home for the first few days, being in a new environment. She has a very sweet personality and is playful. She has become more active now that she is settling in. When her foster home jiggles one of her toys, so that the bell rings, she will run to the toy and ring the bell herself. She chirps and chatters.<br/><br/>Pyxis is eating Harrison's super fine pellets, Zupreem natural pellets and nutriberries. Her favorites are millet and nutriberries. Her foster mom has offered her different fruits and veggies, but so far she has been reluctant to try anything new. She will continue to work on this.<br/><br/>Her foster mom is working to build trust with Pyxis and to get her to step up on a stick. For now, she flies away when a stick is presented.<br/><br/>Pyxis has been disease testing for Chlamydia and PBFD.<br/><br/>Pyxis is being fostered in Berkeley Heights, NJ. She<br/>will only be adopted into a forever home within driving distance.<br/><br/>We will NOT ship our birds.<br/><br/>For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.<br/><br/>We do not have a central location.
