He has been with his original guardian since he was about two months old, but due to changes in life circumstances, he is in need of a forever home.<br/><br/>Juju has a very affectionate and social personality. He is strongly bonded to humans, is friendly with everyone and enjoys being on shoulders, following people around, and being involved in daily activities.<br/><br/>When visitors are over, he will fly to their shoulders<br/>.<br/><br/>He thrives on interaction and tends to mirror the energy of his environment. He loves interacting with young children as long as they are chill.<br/><br/>He does not like chaos, house parties, or loud environments. He is a relatively calm bird, but is still as energetic as any parrot. Juju loves to cuddle and lean up against a hand, sleeve, or neck, but does not always like to be pet. Juju does have personal space boundaries when it comes to accepting scritches, but besides direct petting, he is a huge cuddle bug. When his space is understood and respected, Juju is a very sweet and trusting companion. If his boundaries are not honored, he may bite, though it is avoidable. Read his body language.<br/><br/>In Juju’s current home, he is rarely in his cage, and has a room to himself. The cage door is always open except when he sleeps, but the room door is closed when needed. Juju can learn tricks and currently knows how to touch a target, spin around, and shake hands.<br/><br/>Juju has stress-induced seizures that only come about when he is being restrained at the vet. He has never had them at any other time, and always bounces back within minutes. It is somewhat expected that he will have them when being restrained in a towel.<br/><br/>Juju would do best in a household where he can be out of the cage for extended periods and included in his family's daily life. While parrot experience is a plus, the most important thing is a willingness to understand and respect his boundaries. Juju has not been around other animals and will not be adopted into a family with dogs or cats. Juju is a skilled flyer and must stay fully flighted.<br/><br/>Juju has been disease-tested for chlamydia and PBFD.<br/><br/>Juju is participating in our Help with Rehoming program and is still with his family in Elmwood Park, NJ. He will only be adopted to a forever home within driving distance.<br/><br/>We will NOT ship our birds. A minimum of 2 visits is required to adopt Juju.<br/><br/>For the Love of Birds is a group of dedicated foster homes throughout NJ and Eastern PA.<br/><br/>We do not have a central location.
