Splinter's Story
Splinter is a handsome agouti hooded male, estimated to be between 1–1.5 years old.

About Splinter
Splinter may be one of the most unphotogenic rats we’ve ever tried to capture on camera, but what he lacks in photos he more than makes up for in personality. He’s the friendliest and boldest of the group that came into rescue after being surrendered when their family found themselves with too many pets after a pet store purchase.

He’s an active, curious adult male who truly enjoys being part of whatever is happening around him. During free roam, Splinter frequently hops into his foster’s lap to check in before heading back out to explore, a habit that makes him feel more like a tiny companion than a cage pet. He enjoys soft pets, is highly food-motivated, and responds well to treats, encouragement, and interaction.

Splinter is smart, adventurous, and clearly enjoys mental and physical enrichment. He would likely thrive with someone who enjoys engaging with their rats beyond basic care — things like training, puzzle feeders, or simple obstacle courses would be right up his alley. Because of his confidence and energy level, he’s best suited for a home with prior rat experience that can keep up with him and provide plenty of out-of-cage time.

While he has lived alone for some time and may do well as a single rat, he’ll need a home that’s ready to give him the attention and enrichment he deserves. In return, Splinter offers a big personality, constant curiosity, and a rat who genuinely seems to enjoy human company.

Availability
Splinter will be available for adoption after March 1st.

Adoption Information
To apply, please visit the Adoption tab on our website and complete the required steps: www.garatrescue.weebly.com

Adoption Fees
$20 for a single rat
$35 for a bonded pair
$40 flat fee for trios or larger groups

If you would like a fun guy to be a part of your family, We’d love to hear from you.
Adopt, don’t shop.
