Noah-In foster's Story
Noah is an independent lady looking for a new home. This gorgeous girl has lived with cats who she interacted with and did well with. She is looking for a calm home where she can enjoy time out of her cage. While she isn't the biggest fan of a lot of handling, she will tolerate it for brief periods of time.

We do not know if Noah has ever lived with another Chinchilla, but she may do okay with very slow introductions.

Her adoption fee is $150.

As most of our small animals are in fostercare, if you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about this pet, the best way to start the process is to call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us at springfield@dakinhumane.org. If you already have a cage, please send a picture of your cage when you inquire.

Chinchillas can live between 10 - 20 years.

We can overheat easily- the best temperature for us is between 59 and 77 degrees fahrenheit.

We need to take a dust bath in our special chinchilla dust once a week.

We are nocturnal- that means we sleep all day and are active at night!

Housing requirements: Most housing sold at pet stores is too small for small pets. They are going to be spending most of their lives inside their cage; your housing must be as large as the below or larger (bigger is always better!) in order to adopt this pet.
For 1-3 ferrets - the minimum cage requirement is 36"W x 24"D x 48"H
Double Level Critter Nation cages are perfect.

Chinchillas are a social species, meaning they usually enjoy the company of their own kind. If there are two names listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly), that means that the two animals are a bonded pair of friends, and must be adopted together.

-Got a single at home you're looking for a friend for? Any animal listed alone on our website is a single and a great candidate.
-A new friend will need a separate cage until friendship has been established
