Lenny-In Foster's Story
Lenny is a cute little male guinea pig looking for a fresh start. We don't know anything about his past, but he's been a fun little guy to have around while he's been with us. With a slow introduction to his new home and some patience, Lenny should settle in nicely. He would likely do great in most homes once he feels comfortable. He loves his snacks, his cozy hideouts, and just hanging out while he figures out the world at his own pace. If you're looking for a sweet, simple companion, Lenny might be your guy.

Here's what his foster has to say about him:
Lenny is a super friendly and sociable Guinea pig, and will make someone a wonderful pet. He loves to be pet and will actually come right over for pets on his head. He really enjoys hanging out with people, and will sit with you while reading or watching tv. He's a sweetie! :)

The guinea pig adoption fee is $35 (for a single, pair or trio).

As most of our small animals are in foster care, if you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about this pet, the best way to start the process is to call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us at springfield@dakinhumane.org. If you already have a cage, please send a picture of your cage when you inquire.

We've made a video about how to set up guinea pigs for success! Check it out, above with the photos.

Guinea pigs are incredibly social animals who need to be kept in pairs/groups to thrive. If there are two names listed together (eg Peanut Butter w/Jelly), that means that the two animals are a bonded pair of friends, and must be adopted together.

Housing requirements: Guinea pigs need horizontal (ground) space.
- 1-2 guinea pigs: 6.5 square feet cage, but more is better
- Three guinea pigs: 8 square feet, but more is better, especially if they are boys
- Expect to spend around $100 on guinea pig housing and supplies to prepare for your new pet.
- The least expensive and largest way to house your pigs well is by creating a C & C cage, which is a DIY creation! This page has lots of links with how-to and ideas, copy and paste into a browser window; http://www.guineapigcages.com/howto.htm or Google "C&C guinea pig cages" to find more!

If you've never owned a Guinea Pig before, check out this site to learn more about these amazing little animals: https://www.guineadad.com/pages/guineadad-blogs
