Latte, Quiche & Toast (The Brunch Bunch)'s Story
Fostered in Malden, MA.

Two young, one adult

UPDATE 4/18/26:

These girls are curious and very friendly, but they spook easily from sounds or movements, which is why a home with small children would not be recommended. They all come to the open cage door to greet their foster mom and take treats from her hand – assuming it is not naptime. They all give her quick nose kisses (which is the polite rat way of acknowledging another rat). They are all getting more confident by the day. During free roaming time, they will go on the sofa, and all five will climb on their foster.

Latte is curious & brave

Latte will inspect your mouth and punish you with a nip on the lip for not sharing that yummy treat you just ate. (She has never broken skin). She communicates clearly when she wants to be left alone; she will take your finger firmly between her teeth and push it away. While she will do everything to avoid being picked up, she will go into a hide, which can be used to move her if necessary.

Latte and Quiche often snuggle together.

Quiche is an introvert and a little on the shy side. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t like exploring – she just likes to do it on her own terms. She enjoys food and will try new foods. Quiche is the only one who regularly uses the exercise wheel. When we play under blankets on the sofa, she climbs on her foster mom and she does not mind being tickled on her back. This is a good way to continue building trust. Like Latte, she prefers not to be picked up but can be moved in a hide.

It is believed that Toast is the mom of the other four girls. She is shy but curious. She does like exploring; she sometimes goes exploring without the others. When play time is coming up on nap time and it seems like everybody is back in the cage, her foster mom double-checks the sofa, because sometimes Toast is still exploring the far end or is still under the blankets. While Toast was a little nippy at first, her nips have become much gentler over time. She might give you a gentle nip on the nose instead of the normal nose kiss. (If this happens, you have been ‘Toasted’). While she will do everything to avoid being picked up, she will go into a hide, which can be used to move her if necessary.
