Doc Holliday's Story

DOC HOLLIDAY is a fun-loving, handsome blaze/panda mix who inherited the deafness associated with blaze ferrets. Approximately 1-1/2 years old, he responds to knocking (vibrations) and comes when he knows you are looking for him. He will follow you around like a happy puppy. This wonderful guy was only a day or two away from starving to death when he was surrendered by his owners with Miss Kate. (Two of their cage-mates were not so lucky; a third has already found her forever home.) Doc has the tattoos typical of a Marshall ferret and is neutered and descented. He is UTD with his rabies & distemper vaccines and is litter-trained.

Doc is showing early signs of adrenal gland disease and insulinoma and will require special attention to his diet. In addition to a high-protein, quality ferret diet and vitamins, he is responding well to Uncle Jim's Duk Soup. His weight tends to slip without it, despite his healthy appetite. Doc & Katie would love to find a home with ferrety experience. They are a bonded pair: they trust each other, eat, sleep & play together and would do best to remain together. Doc's adoption fee is $65.00 to help offset some of the additional expense involved in caring for a special needs ferret. He will require regular veterinary care to monitor his blood levels and, most likely, medication. Or if you adopt both Doc Holliday and Miss Kate, the special adoption rate is $115. We have an all volunteer staff so your entire fee goes towards saving AWF's rescue animals. If your donation covers the medical costs, then the remainder of your donation will go towards helping save another homeless pet!

Every minute you spend with these two wonderful fuzz-butts will be well worth it. There is no greater joy than watching Doc Holliday & Miss Kate wrestle in the living room "dooking" (ferret giggling) and weasel-dancing!

No adoptions outside of a 50-mile radius of Cedar Rapids.

To provide Doc Holliday (or Miss Kate and Doc Holliday) a secure and loving home, please contact Heidi at (774) 200-0804 or stevie103@msn.com.
