Cucumber's Story

Cucumber is a cute and fluffy Tan/White/Black Abyssinian Guinea Pig that currently lives with Coriander and Chicory. Cucumber is still getting used to being handled so she is looking for a patient adopter that's willing to work with her and help her realize people aren't as scary as they seem. She absolutely loves her hay and greens. Once she hears any bag crinkle, she's up at the front of her enclosure squeaking for treats. She's a good girl with a fun personality. If you're looking for a couple sweet piggies, Cucumber and her friends are the piggies for you.

Guinea Pigs have a vegan diet that consists mainly of high quality Timothy Hay, supplemented with 1/8 cup of hay-based pellets per day. Guinea Pigs also need 1 cup of fresh veggies every day, including things like romaine, green & red leaf lettuce, escarole, parsley, dill, and bell peppers. They also need additional Vitamin C supplements because they do not create their own–just like us!

Guinea Pigs are social animals and should be kept with or near at least one other guinea pig of the same sex. They should be kept in a solid base cage, with a minimum size of 7.5 square feet–approximately 2ft x 4ft, with room for food, water, enrichment, and places to hide.

Our shelter is open Tuesday-Saturday from 12-4 (closed Mondays, adoption/surrender appointment only Sundays). If you are interested in this pet, please review our adoption process at www.lowellhumanesociety.org/adoption/#process so you're prepared to adopt & stop by the shelter with the required information to take home this pet.
