Sandy *Special needs*'s Story

Sandy has been with our rescue for quite some time. We are looking for a very particular home for her, and honestly we expect she will probably end up staying with us. However I figured I’d try to see if there just so happens to be that perfect home out there’s

Sandy was surrendered about a year ago after being rehomed to someone else. Her owner was not able to take care of her anymore so they surrendered to us. When we got her we were immediately concerned due to a large swelling in her back right leg. We took her to our vet and due to some suspicious X-rays they suggested amputation. Sandy successfully went through surgery and recovered well. Her biopsy came back as severe inflammation, likely due to previous infection. She went on a round of antibiotics after surgery.

Since surgery, Sandy has been very reluctant to eat on her own. She prefers to be syringe fed. We do offer her greens and insects regularly, but she never seems interested. However she loves her smoothies and she is syringe fed a few times per week.

Sandy also needs some help going to the bathroom, for an unknown reason since surgery she needs a reminder when she has to go. This is something we expect she will need help with long term.

Despite her handicap and peculiarities with food Sandy is a lovely dragon and very easy to handle. She seems to enjoy interacting with people.

Would you consider opening your home to this special lizard?
