Rogue & Mystique's Story
Intake date: 11/22/25
Status: Available

Rogue and Mystique are two green forest dragons (Calotes calotes) who were owner surrendered. While they were supposed to be captive bred, they did have fecal parasites when first surrendered that are more consistent with wild caught animals. Rogue and Mystique have been treated for parasites and are doing great. Their scales were a little dry when they first came in but they have responded well to an increased humidity. Calotes are a very unique genus and we have really enjoyed caring for this pair. They are surprisingly friendly and will jump on your head or shoulders when working in the enclosure!

While we generally have a no-breeding clause for animals adopted from us, Calotes are a rare species and we support practices that decrease wild-caught herps. These lizards can be adopted together, or they can go as a pair. They have produced eggs in our care, but they have been infertile. We are comfortable adopting out these lizards to separate homes or together, and we will not prohibit breeding them or hatching eggs. The adoption fee is $150 per lizard, or $300 for both.

The pair is currently housed in a 24" x 18" x 36" enclosure, which they are doing well in. We would recommend that size or larger.

PLEASE READ!
If you are interested in adopting this animal, you need to fill out an application at https://bewildnc.org/apply/. Read the application carefully and answer the questions thoroughly. Above all, be honest!
