Sammie's Story

Some surrender requests hit you in the gut. Others are a matter of life and death. This one was both.

We received a surrender request for two young English Lop brothers, Theo and Sammie. But when we followed up, the owner told us they no longer needed help—because a farm had “generously” agreed to take them. Unfortunately, that farm is known for selling baby rabbits as pets and adult rabbits for meat. And since these boys were no longer babies… our hearts sank. We knew we had to act fast. Their lives depended on it.

Thankfully, we were able to get them out in time.

English Lops are often bred for shows—or sadly, for meat—and rarely make it into rescue. Known as the “puppies” of the rabbit world, they’re prized for their sweet, gentle nature. Sammie is no exception.

Some bunnies enjoy gentle pets—Sam thrives on them. He LOVES love. The moment he sees a person, he assumes they’re there to shower him with affection.

At around 9 pounds and still growing, Sammie is a big, lovable boy with an even bigger personality. He is a total lap bunny in the making. He follows his foster around and insists on being noticed. Bold, affectionate, and completely unapologetic about his need for attention, Sam makes it clear: you were made to love on him. And he’ll make sure you do (I mean, how could you resist that face?!).

Now, he just needs someone to love him forever. Email us at cottontailsrabbitrescue@gmail.com to adopt Sammie!
