Roadrunner's Story

Beep! Beep!

Meet Roadrunner — the girl who doesn't have to run anymore. This sweet, gentle girl was found darting through traffic on a busy roadway in St. Cloud (see video) — and just like her cartoon namesake, no one knows where she came from, but we know exactly what she was running from. Whatever her past held, it was bad enough that she was willing to risk her life to escape it. Thankfully, a few reallife heroes stopped their cars, blocked traffic, and saved her.

Her challenges didn't end there. Shortly after arriving in rescue, Roadrunner gave birth to five babies who, heartbreakingly, did not survive. During her spay surgery, the vet also discovered several unusual lumps. They were removed and, thankfully, turned out to be benign. We may never know what this brave girl endured before she reached safety, but we do know this: life gets better from here.

A blossoming girl with a big personality. Roadrunner has absolutely flourished in foster care. After a life where food may have been scarce or unpredictable, she gets adorably excited for her Oxbow Adult Pellets and fresh greens. She's incredibly smart, and using a treat ball or snuffle mat gives her the mental stimulation she craves. True to her name, she'll zoom around her pen in anticipation of mealtime — sometimes with so much enthusiasm she nearly topples over. She's also a champion hay eater and a litterbox pro. Roadrunner has perfected the art of balance: bursts of energetic play followed by deep, restorative naps. Her favorite hobbies include hopping onto her boxes and water dispenser, chewing willow balls and apple sticks, and soaking up gentle pets from her humans.

Ready to stop running and start living. This girl has survived more than any rabbit should. She doesn't need to run anymore. She's ready for a calm, loving home where she can finally settle in, feel safe, and be cherished the way she deserves. If you're looking for a resilient, affectionate, and delightfully quirky companion, Roadrunner is ready to hop into her next chapter.

We adopt to indoor homes only! If you are interested in adopting a bunny from Orlando Rabbit Care and Adoptions, or would like more information on rabbit care, please visit our website at: http://www.orlandorabbit.org. The first step in our adoption process is to complete an adoption application, which can be found here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/55856/generic . Then one of our volunteers will reach out to you via email to schedule a time to speak with you. If you don't see the email in a day or two, please check your spam folder.

Our Adoption Fee/Donation for a single rabbit is $100, a pair is $170, and a triple is $200. This helps to offset the cost of having the rabbits altered, microchipped and vaccinated, as well as any medical care that may have been required.
