Prince Rusty's Story

Meet Prince Rusty!

When Rusty was first rescued, he was thin, covered in fleas, and absolutely terrified of the world around him. Thanks to the incredible support of the volunteers from Long Island Rabbit Rescue, we were able to welcome him into our home and give him the safe, warm environment he desperately needed while he waits for his forever family.

Watching Rusty transform over the past few months has been truly amazing. The scared little bunny who once hid from everyone has slowly blossomed into a sweet, curious, and lovable companion. He now enjoys gentle head pets, eagerly explores the house during free-roam time, and has become quite the little character! His favorite treats are blueberries — shake the container and he’ll come hopping over as fast as he can.

One of Rusty's best qualities is how easy he is to care for. He is 100% litter box trained and is a very clean boy. He keeps his space tidy and has excellent habits, making him a wonderful indoor companion.

Rusty has the funniest, quirkiest personality and brings so much joy to our home. He’s playful, observant, and happiest when he’s able to explore and then settle down nearby where he feels safe and loved. My daughter Lucy and her friend have spent countless hours patiently sitting with him, helping him build trust and confidence around people, and it has been incredibly rewarding to watch.

As his confidence has grown, we've also seen what a gentle and easygoing rabbit he is. His sweet nature and calm temperament make us think he could be an excellent companion bunny for another rabbit, with proper introductions.

Prince Rusty would thrive in a patient, loving home that will continue helping him grow and feel secure. Once he trusts you, you’ll see just how special he is. He’s proof of how resilient animals can be when they’re given kindness, time, and love. We have no doubt that the family lucky enough to adopt him will gain a wonderful companion—and perhaps the perfect bunny friend for another rabbit as well. ❤ï ̧

Rescued October 2025
Estimated Birthday: 3/13/2025
Rusty has mild incisor malocclusion and currently requires dental trims every few months. His incisors have improved since his rescue with a proper diet, and we remain hopeful that continued good nutrition and care will further support normal alignment.
