Orecchiette's Story
Orecchiette came from San Francisco Animal Care and Control.

Meet Orecchiette, a well behaved and charming bunny with an adorable little rabbit shaped mark on her nose that makes her impossible to forget. This inquisitive girl is very food motivated and proudly so. Though she is cautious in her space, her cautiousness makes her a good free-roam candidate as she is very well behaved.

Orecchiette is most active in the morning and evening, then spends her afternoons napping and recharging. She loves apples and bananas, along with all her greens, especially kale. Her enthusiasm makes bonding easy and fun, and she will eagerly greet you each day with bright eyes and twitching whiskers. She also has a playful, adventurous side.

Orecchiette loves to burrow under blankets, squeezing into small spaces to hide, and gnawing on wood toys and branches. Providing plenty of enrichment is key, as she enjoys staying busy. She has chewed on a few pieces of wood furniture before they were blockaded, so a well bunny proofed space will help her succeed. She is strong and determined too. Occasionally she shakes her cage at night and is even powerful enough to lift it and drop it, so a secure and spacious setup is important. Orecchiette would thrive with a family who appreciates a confident, food loving, curious rabbit and can channel her energy into safe outlets. In return, she will keep you entertained, keep you on your toes, and greet you with excitement every single day!

This is what her foster says about her:

"She has become very comfortable in my space. When she first got here, I thought she was a finicky eater. I realize now that she was just stressed. She is totally food motivated, and even after finishing a sizable breakfast, she goes around looking for more food.

She does zoomies in the morning when I get up because she knows she is going to get fed.

Like many bunnies, she likes to play by moving stuff around. I have a few different play areas set up outside her x-pen. Particularly during her morning active periods, she moves around blankets, toys, willow tents, etc. I put everything back "in order" each week, and then she gets to set about rearranging it all again.

She thumps sometimes for expressiveness, even when she really isn't afraid or alarmed. For example, the other night, she was out on the living room rug. She thumped and then immediately stretched out on her tummy with her legs extended behind her -- obviously at ease.

She often stretches out on my living room rug while I'm watching T.V. at night. And sometimes when I turn on the TV or am talking on the phone, she will come hopping out of her pen with a mouth full of greens, curious about what is going on (but not afraid)."

Orecchiette is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be
administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy
veterinarian once a year.

Submit an adoption application for Orecchiette at houserabbit.org.
