Ned & Cindy's Story
Meet "the married couple", Ned & Cindy! These bunnies are estimated to be about 2 years old (as of fall 2026) and love tunnels, hidey houses, and chew sticks / wooden toys. They are best friends and definitely need each other. Their personalities are very different with Cindy (black lop) being "in charge" and Ned being easy-going and laid back. Cindy is "the boss" while Ned is known as the "teddy bear bunny"! They are very friendly. We would love for you to meet them!

Ned & Cindy were rescued after being dumped in a neighborhood by a suspected breeder. A Good Samaritan rescued both of them on separate days and when they saw each other, it was obvious that they knew each other and wanted to be back together. Bonded pairs do not like to be separated! Both bunnies were given vet exams, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (rabbit hemorrhagic disease). They have records with one of our local bunny-savvy veterinarians. They are both in great health.

Two bunnies is not twice the work! Bonded bunnies can share the same space, same litterbox, eat together, and even share the same carrier for vet visits! Having a bunny buddy often helps with longevity and boredom for both bunnies as well.

Rabbits can live 10-12 years with good care and an indoor, safe living space! Rabbits need daily Timothy hay, nutritious pellets, greens/veggies, and a bowl of fresh water. Free-roaming or exercise pens work best! We do not recommend cages or hutches or outdoor housing.

Our adoption process:

(1) We ask that you look through our educational slides and writeup (under 10 minutes) using the big buttons on the middle of the page here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com

(2) Fill out an adoption application here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com/adopt(No obligation to adopt from filling one out.)

(3) You will be contacted and we’ll set up a meeting for you to meet the bunny!
We advise having a safe indoor space available and an emergency fund set aside for an unexpected vet visit for any pet. ?

We also strongly encourage attending our Bunny Basics event (every month on the third Saturday at Southpaw Animal Clinic in Madison, 1-2:30pm) to learn more about bunny care. We respectfully especially recommend this if you are new to rabbits or it has been many years, have small children or multiple pets, or have any history with 4H or breeders (as their instruction is often extremely lacking / incorrect).

Please reach out if you have any questions! Message us on our Facebook rescue page or e-mail us at HuntsvilleHouseRabbits@gmail.com

Note: Our rescue does not do on-the-spot adoptions; instead we schedule a meetup for you to meet the bunny you are interested in first and make sure you are comfortable with everything required for their care. We must have a form from you first. We find that this helps tremendously in helping adopters find the rabbit that is right for them. Please note that we require rabbits to have an indoor space. Please feel free to ask us questions!

Our adoption fee for a bonded pair of bunnies is $150, which is less than half the cost of a spay and exam and vaccination for a single bunny. Our rescue uses all adoption fees to help fund the veterinary costs of other bunnies and takes joy in sharing which bunny would benefit from each adoption fee!
