Maru's Story

Maru is a beautiful, big bunny with a thick, soft, fluffy coat and long graceful limbs-a classic rabbit beauty who's as lovely to look at as she is to love.
Maru is a shy and thoughtful girl who prefers to take her time observing the world. She can startle easily and may hide when something surprises her. In a calm environment her gentle nature comes forward. She is mellow, inquisitive, and quietly curious, especially when things feel safe and predictable.
She does well with kids when they are quiet and calmly playing nearby. She is sensitive to voices, but with soft, calm talking she will gradually relax and come around.
Maru loves cilantro, happily nibbles on sticks and chew toys, and has an innate sense of curiosity. When her foster is doing homework, Maru will sometimes hop right over and jump up as if to ask what is going on. It is an endearing reminder that she enjoys being near her people, even if she prefers affection on her own terms.
Maru truly blossoms when she is given space and routine. She does best with free roam time once the household is awake and settled. After spending too long confined, she will make her feelings known with a stomp, which just shows how important exploration is for her happiness.
When she feels safe, she shines, exploring her surroundings with quiet confidence. With patience, gentle voices, and a mellow home, Maru opens up into a sweet, calm companion who enjoys pets and relaxed company. She is looking for a home that appreciates a sensitive soul and is willing to let trust grow at Maru's pace.

Maru is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

Submit an adoption application for Maru at houserabbit.org. House Rabbit Society is located in Richmond, California, just north of San Francisco. Questions? Email foster@houserabbit.org and we'll be happy to talk more with you!
