Maeve's Story
NOTE: This is a courtesy posting--these bunnies are still with its owner, who is looking to re-home her. We will pass your adoption application to them and they will contact you directly.

Meet Maeve!

Maeve is a beautiful young rabbit who was rescued in August 2025 from a neglectful situation where she had little enrichment and limited access to hay and fresh vegetables. Although she was initially fearful and territorial, she has blossomed into a curious, confident, and playful girl. She is approximately one year old, spayed, and litter trained.

Maeve's Personality

* Curious, spunky, and full of personality
* Enjoys exploring and playing
* Loves attention on her own terms
* Comfortable around cats
* Enjoys foraging, cardboard toys, and hopping onto the couch for a blueberry treat

Favorite Foods

* Unlimited fresh hay
* Parsley
* Bell peppers
* Bananas (as a treat)
* Bunny treats

Ideal Home

Maeve is looking for an indoor-only home where she can free roam for at least part of each day. She needs:

* Unlimited fresh hay, fresh water, pellets, and daily greens
* Plenty of enrichment, including tunnels, chew toys, and digging boxes
* A spacious indoor living area (no hutches or outdoor housing)

Maeve is being rehomed because she does not get along with the other rabbits in her home. She would likely thrive as a single rabbit or with an experienced owner who is willing to properly bond her with another rabbit.

Photos of the proposed living space will be required before adoption. Renters must provide landlord approval for rabbits.

Adoption Fee: $150

Maeve's adopter will receive:

* Starter supply of hay, pellets, and treats
* Hideout
* Litter box
* Starter cord covers
* Complete veterinary records

Rabbits require lifelong care, including annual exotic veterinarian visits, regular nail trims and grooming, quality food, and daily enrichment. With proper care, rabbits commonly live 8-12 years.

Maeve is looking for a loving, permanent home where she will be cherished for the rest of her life.

If you think Maeve is the perfect match, please contact Rachel at (mailto:oliverswithersbee@gmail.com)

Photos of the anticipated habitat and supplies will be required prior to adoption. If the individual is renting, confirmed renter agreement is required as well.

WE ADOPT TO INDOOR HOMES ONLY. There are simply too many dangers outside for a rabbit to thrive and survive. You are expected to make a lifetime commitment to your house rabbit, and they should be treated as an integral part of the family. The primary caregiver must be a responsible adult, and young children should always be supervised when interacting with your rabbit and instructed on proper approach and handling.

Rabbits are intelligent and social animals; they do best with a rabbit companion and need daily interaction with their human friends. They need room to play and have the freedom to run around a large area. Rabbits should be fed unlimited hay, a little high-quality hay pellets, and a fresh leafy green salad.

We do have strict housing requirements. We do not adopt to home with rabbit cages or hutches. See our website for more information. The housing area needs to be at least 4 x 4 floor space.

Your rabbit will need regular nail trims and annual vet checks. With proper care and lots of love, rabbits can live to be 10-12 years old.

Our adoption fee is $70 for a single and $130 for a pair (this helps us cover part of their spay/neuter cost). An interview, adoption application and a picture of their housing will be required before adoption.

We will NEVER separate a bonded pair. Bunnies bond for life. If the bunnies are shown together, they are bonded.

We are not adopting to homes with DOGS, we have had some bad trauma to our rabbits in the past. Their safety come first.
Please contact Angie Green at angieso1@earthlink.net

Please visit our web-site for more information. www.specialbunny.org
