Louise and Herman's Story
Louise and Herman are a bonded pair who have been returned to Bunny Lu after their adoptive family experienced a drastic change in their living situation and could no longer care for these two properly. We estimate that they were both born sometime in 2022.

Louise is a Holland Lop who is the more social of the two of them. She will come up to humans to investigate whether or not they have any treats for her, but she will settle for some love and attention if not!

Herman is the fluffy little lionhead. He is a bit more shy than Louise, as he prefers to let Louise deal with the humans until he is certain that there is no danger posed. He has extremely soft and fluffy fur, and we are very confident that he just needs a bit of time to warm up to people before he will come out of his shell.

INDOOR HOMES ONLY

Come Meet Our Bunnies...
Adoption appointments are available 7 days a week by appointment only.

Adopting from Bunny Lu...
We ask those interested in adopting from Bunny Lu to fill out the adoption form found at www.bunnylu.org/adoptions. Please be sure to provide your name, address, and telephone number.

1. Bunny Lu will only adopt rabbits to responsible adults 18 years or older. If the rabbit is intended to be a pet for the entire family, all adults in the family must be on board with the adoption. These rules are in place for the wellbeing of the rabbits, which is our primary concern.

2. The bunnies must be kept indoors with a minimum of 4 feet by 6 feet of bunny-proofed space. This space needs to be in a location where the rabbits will receive daily interaction with their family. Rabbits are very social animals, so these daily interactions are extremely important.

3. Rabbits adopted from Bunny Lu must be picked up at the rescue in Waynesboro, VA. We will not ship any animal.

4. All bunnies adopted from Bunny Lu are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHVD 2. The microchips are registered to Bunny Lu so that the rabbits can be returned here in the event anything should happen to their adoptive family or their home.

5. First-time or inexperienced prospective rabbit parents are required to read “A House Rabbit Primer” by Lucile C. Moore, which is available for $15 at Bunny Lu or on Amazon. We feel this is the best book available to explain what living with rabbits is really like so that you can make an educated decision if a rabbit is the right pet for you.

6. First time bunny parents should be looking at adult rabbits, preferably rabbits over 2 years of age. Baby bunnies or any under 1 year of age will not be adopted to first time bunny parents.

7. The adoption fee is $250.00 for each bunny. This includes the cost of the spay/neuter, microchipping, and vaccination. Please ask about adoption fees for pairs.

8. If you are looking for a companion for your bunny, they must be spayed/neutered in advance. We encourage you to bring your rabbit to the adoption appointment so that they can have a trial run at the bonding experience. Please keep in mind that it may be necessary to introduce your bunny to several different bunnies before the right match is found. In our experience, we have found that the most successful pairing is between a neutered male and a spayed female. While same sex buns can get along, it is unusual.

About Bunny Lu...
Bunny Lu is a 501c3 non-profit, all volunteer rabbit rescue founded in 1999 to help domestic rabbits find loving homes and lead happy and healthy lives through education of their human companions.

1. We offer bunny-sitting! Bun-Sitters relax in a large pen with furniture to enjoy. All bunnies get pellets and veggies twice a day, along with fresh hay & water, just like all the bunnies in the rescue. We have an entire room dedicated to the space for our bun-sitters! Please contact us if you need to set up a bunny-sitting appointment.

2. We also sell bunny supplies and food to keep your bunnies happy! This includes things such as Orchard/Timothy hay, Mazuri pellets, Selective Naturals treats, papaya, bunny furniture and much more! These can be purchased at the rescue in Waynesboro, VA.

3. Donations are always needed to provide a roof over the bunnies' heads, food in their tummies, and medical care to keep them living long, happy lives!
