Jan Levinson's Story

Jan Levinson is available for adoption!!

Jan came to us as part of a 2023 criminal case. She was one of the first to arrive due to a uterine infection. She was immediately spayed to get her feeling better asap!!

When Jan came to us in 2023, she was so social and outgoing! She was adopted and returned twice... the first time was because she took more time to settle in than they wanted. Bunnies need a few weeks to feel at home!! The second time was because the family was expecting a child and Jan was no longer the most exciting thing in the home.

When Jan was returned, the day after Christmas 2025, she was fearful and terrified. Not the Jan we know and love. We aren't sure what happened, but Jan is very scared and may grunt, lunge, and hide at the simplest movement or even a food bowl being placed in front of her. She has not attempted to bite, but she is scared and we don't know why.

Jan needs a FOREVER home that will be patient with her and handle her outbursts with grace and love. We know the old Jan is in there somewhere, but it may take several months or longer to find her.

She is safe in her old foster home and we are working on trust again after ruling out a medical issue.

She has done well with all dogs and cats so far! She has not been tested with other bunnies yet, but meet and greets are required for any bunnies in the home. A bunny bondmate may be just what she needs to trust again! For her comfort, she needs a quiet, calm home without children.

Jan is around 3 years old. She has been spayed, microchipped, and is up to date on her RHDV2 vaccine!

*An application, vet reference, and home check is required prior to adoption

**Cages and hutches are not suitable housing for bunnies and will not be approved as housing unless one or more doors are permanently removed

***INDOOR PET ONLY HOME

Operation Bun Bun Rescue's Adoption Policy
The first step is the adoption application. A vet is always called and referenced. Then we reach out to the potential adopter and let them know if we had any issues with the vet reference. If resolved, we do a home check. This can be a quick check to make sure they have adequate litter boxes and space for cats, or making sure our bunnies and small animals have a suitable setup and won't be confined to a cage. This can be done virtually for out of state adoptions. There is always a meet and greet and then a contract must be signed and the adoption fee must be paid before the pet is transferred to the care of the adopter.
