Jan Gogh's Story

Meet Jan Gogh, a sweet white-furred bunny (we believe a New Zealand mix breed). She is estimated to be about 3 years old (as of 2026). She loves tunnels, exploring, and the color purple! (Her foster blanket and tunnel are light purple!) She loves toys such as stacking cups and things that jingle or clack! Jan is very friendly and a rare bunny that likes to cuddle. Jan is missing her left ear as a circumstance of the terrible conditions she was in prior to rescue, but this does not affect her health in any way.

Jan was rescued while very pregnant and after she had her babies, she was spayed and vaccinated. She is up to date on her veterinary checkups and has a record at two of our local bunny-savvy vets. She is vaccinated for RHDV2 (rabbit hemorrhagic disease).

Jan is in very good health. Her missing ear has no impact on their lifespan or overall health. We kindly ask that you overlook this small physical difference—you’ll never notice if you get to know her! Sadly, she remains one of our longest residents (along with Bunardo) and continues to patiently wait for a home.

Jan may be open to a buddy. Our rescue would be happy to assist with bunny "speed dating" if you are interested. Bonded bunnies can share the same space, same litterbox, eat together, and even share the same carrier for vet visits! Having a bunny buddy often helps with longevity and boredom for both bunnies as well.

Rabbits can live 10-12 years with good care and an indoor, safe living space! Rabbits need daily Timothy hay, nutritious pellets, greens/veggies, and a bowl of fresh water. Free-roaming or exercise pens work best! We do not recommend cages or hutches or outdoor housing.

Our adoption process:

(1) We ask that you look through our educational slides and writeup (under 10 minutes) using the big buttons on the middle of the page here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com

(2) Fill out an adoption application here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com/adopt(No obligation to adopt from filling one out.)

(3) You will be contacted and we’ll set up a meeting for you to meet the bunny!
We advise having a safe indoor space available and an emergency fund set aside for an unexpected vet visit for any pet. ?

We also strongly encourage attending our Bunny Basics event (every month on the third Saturday at Southpaw Animal Clinic in Madison, 1-2:30pm) to learn more about bunny care. We respectfully especially recommend this if you are new to rabbits or it has been many years, have small children or multiple pets, or have any history with 4H or breeders (as their instruction is often extremely lacking / incorrect).

Please reach out if you have any questions! Message us on our Facebook rescue page or e-mail us at HuntsvilleHouseRabbits@gmail.com

Note: Our rescue does not do on-the-spot adoptions; instead we schedule a meetup for you to meet the bunny you are interested in first and make sure you are comfortable with everything required for their care. We must have a form from you first. We find that this helps tremendously in helping adopters find the rabbit that is right for them. Please note that we require rabbits to have an indoor space. Please feel free to ask us questions!

Our adoption fee for a single rabbit is $100 or $150 for a bonded pair, or $225 for our trio. This is less than the cost of spay or neuter alone for a single bunny (without the RHDV2 vaccine).
