Chappy's Story
Chappy was found as a stray in January 2026. He was found next to a busy street but luckily a Good Samaritan fearing for his safety brought him home (and went above and beyond by getting him neutered!)

When they reached out to us for help re-homing him we noticed he appeared to have a head tilt so we scheduled a wellness exam with out veterinarian to determine if it could be a sign of EC, an ear infection or dental disease.

An oral exam and X rays seemed to rule out dental disease and an ear infection at first, so an EC titer was sent out. When that came back negative .. an inner ear infection became the prime suspect again.

Ear infections are rare in up eared rabbits, but as he was found as a stray, inclement Florida weather and humidity likely played a role. After completing a 3 week course of oral antibiotics Chappy's head tilt remained and at this point we are not sure if it will ever fully correct. He gets daily PT in his foster home that includes gentle manual neck stretching, which he thoroughly enjoys.

For now, he remains adorably tilted and this may simply be his normal. It doesn't stop him from zooming, binkying, hopping on top of his castle, or plotting late night xpen jailbreak hi-jinx.

He is estimated to be just 1 year old, is neutered, litter box trained, friendly and playful, and looking for a special foster or forever home. As he continues to have a head tilt which may or may not correct a home experienced with rabbits is preferred.

Despite everything he has been through, Chappy is an incredibly happy boy. He has a sweet, gentle personality and truly enjoys being around people. He follows his foster around the room, greets them excitedly each morning, and brings constant smiles with his adorable flops. Stacking cups and toilet paper rolls stuffed with hay and pellets are his favorites, and he takes his job of getting every last pellet very seriously. Timothy hay cookies are his ultimate weakness. If he smells one, he will come running.
