Brie & Bun Solo (bonded pair)'s Story
Brie & Bun Solo are bonded and looking for their forever home! While they have been loved and cherished in their home so far, their family will soon be traveling frequently and though it breaks their hearts, they want the bunnies to have a loving stable home, free of the stress of constant travel. These bunnies are used to cats and friendly with them, very good around polite children, and very gentle. They are both in great health, and about 3 years old as of fall 2025. More pictures of the bunnies are available on request. Brie is honey colored and Bun Solo is white with a black "belt" across his middle. Brie has dark brown eyes and Bun Solo has dark blue eyes. Brie is a palomino rabbit and Bun Solo is a harlequin rabbit.

They have two different backgrounds. Brie's mother (Gouda, now Yuriko) and father (Cheddar, now Peter) were rescued in Trinity, AL in 2022 as one of our first big rescue cases. Her mother was extremely pregnant and soon gave birth to Brie, her two sisters, and her two brothers on August 17th, 2022. Her brothers Roquefort and Ricotta, and sisters Piccolo and Josephine were all adopted. Brie found a loving home, but longed for a buddy...and that's when she was introduced to Bun Solo.

Carefree, gentle Bun Solo was rescued in 2023 from the child advocacy center. He and his neighbor bunny Chewbacca "Chewy" both needed to be neutered, had ear mites, and needed some good nutrition. They seemed to have lived life in small cages and needed some room to stretch their legs. Both bunnies were young when rescued and soon blossomed into their adult fur and personalities. We expect that Bun Solo was born in late 2022. Chewy found a wonderful home with a loving family, but Bun Solo really wanted a buddy as he and Chewy did not get along.

When Bun Solo and Brie met, it was love at first sight. The bunnies got along instantly. Bun Solo started grooming Brie and she was immediately soothed. Her loneliness went away and she became much happier and started eating better. These bunnies are very bonded and the best of friends.

Rabbits can live 10-12 years with good care and an indoor, safe living space! Rabbits need daily Timothy hay, nutritious pellets, greens/veggies, and a bowl of fresh water. Free-roaming or exercise pens work best! We do not recommend cages or hutches or outdoor housing.

Our adoption process:

(1) We ask that you look through our educational slides and writeup (under 10 minutes) using the big buttons on the middle of the page here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com

(2) Fill out an adoption application here: www.huntsvillehouserabbits.com/adopt(No obligation to adopt from filling one out.)

(3) You will be contacted and we’ll set up a meeting for you to meet the bunny!
We advise having a safe indoor space available and an emergency fund set aside for an unexpected vet visit for any pet. ?

We also strongly encourage attending our Bunny Basics event (every month on the third Saturday at Southpaw Animal Clinic in Madison, 1-3pm) to learn more about bunny care. We especially recommend this if you are new to rabbits or it has been many years, have small children or multiple pets, or have any history with 4H (as their instruction is often extremely lacking / incorrect).

Please reach out if you have any questions! Message us on our Facebook rescue page or e-mail us at HuntsvilleHouseRabbits@gmail.com

Note: Our rescue does not do on-the-spot adoptions; instead we schedule a meetup for you to meet the bunny you are interested in first and make sure you are comfortable with everything required for their care. We must have a form from you first. We find that this helps tremendously in helping adopters find the rabbit that is right for them.

Our adoption fee for a single rabbit is $100 or $150 for a bonded pair (less than the cost of spay or neuter alone for a single bunny).
