BOOTSIE's Story

Meet Bootsie! Bootsie has been spotted off-and-on since March 2025 in a neighborhood in Bellmore. He was tricky, evasive and fast. He outsmarted his rescuers at nearly every turn, until one fateful day when Bootsie was rescued by an experienced cat rescuer. He was affectionately named "Bootsie" by a child in the neighborhood due to his adorable white feet.

Bootsie was in very poor condition upon intake. He tested positive for three different types of intestinal parasites. Additionally, he had an incredibly large botfly that had embedded itself into his private area. He has since had the botfly removed and is receiving ongoing treatment for the parasites.

Since Bootsie was barely surviving on his own since March 2025, he is understandably a bit nervous around humans. However, he is very attentive when his nightly pellets are given to him. This indicates that he is quite food motivated and food will be the key to winning him over. With time, Bootsie will come around.

Take a chance on this warrior! He has the heart of a champion!

Bootsie will be neutered on 12/19.

The adoption fee is $125 for one rabbit and $200 for a bonded pair, and includes all rabbits being spayed/neutered as part of the adoption process.

All About Rabbits Rescue, Inc's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process serves to ensure that the rabbits entrusted in our care go to loving bun-educated forever homes. We provide an application which helps potential adopters organize their consideration on adopting a pet rabbit. Bun-education is really important to us, so we provide the latest and greatest info on rabbit care housing and various helpful tidbits that one can only get from an experienced rabbit rescue caretaker. Not sure about adopting? Ask us about fostering. AARR may be able to provide partial housing and start up supplies. We ask that our fosters help AARR by contributing daily greens, pellets and hay. Foster homes should be able to make the rabbits accessible either by allowing well screened potential adopters to visit or being able to bring them to an adoption event. ADOPTION EVENTS: We are open to the public at our regular events in a casual setting where you can meet many rabbits all at once without an appointment or prior application. Please note we DO NOT do same day adoptions. We also set up private meet-and-greets with pre-approved qualified adopters, so you don't have to wait for an event if you are interested in adoption.
