Billy Bob's Story
Billy Bob
Toughguy exterior, soft marshmallow center

Billy Bob is a fiveyearold Mini Rex named after Billy Bob Thornton - and the comparison fits. On the outside he presents as a scrappy, nononsense bunny, but underneath that bravado is a deeply sensitive soul who has survived far more than any rabbit ever should.

Billy Bob came to us after being abandoned in a filthy cage at the end of our driveway late at night. Because the Rescue sits back in the woods, we didn't discover him and another rabbit until early afternoon the next day. He spent the entire night alone, terrified, exposed to predators, and without food or water. Based on his behavior, it's clear that his life before abandonment wasn't kind to him either. He reacts strongly to hands near his head, and we believe he was likely picked up by his ears in his previous home. He also shows signs of food insecurity, which is heartbreaking but understandable given what he's endured.

Despite all of this, Billy Bob wants to trust. With unfamiliar people he will box and lunge - not out of aggression, but out of fear and selfprotection. But once he bonds, that wall comes down completely. With us, he is gentle, affectionate, and fully trusting. And while we're grateful he feels safe here, it breaks our hearts that he hasn't yet found a family of his own. He deserves a forever home where he can finally exhale.

Billy Bob is looking for an experienced, patient adopter who understands trauma behaviors and is willing to let him set the pace. He will need time, consistency, and a calm environment to feel secure. For the right person, he will be an incredibly rewarding companion.

He may also be bondable with another rabbit, but he must be given ample time to settle into his new home before any bonding attempts. Speeddates are overwhelming for him and will only heighten his anxiety. A fostertoadopt arrangement would be an excellent way for his future family to see whether a bond could develop naturally.

Billy Bob has survived the worst of humanity - now he's ready to experience the best of it. He's waiting for someone who can see past the tough exterior and recognize the soft, loyal heart underneath.

$200 adoption fee includes Billy Bob (neutered and vaxxed), a playpen, litter box, bowls, hay and pellets.
Apply to adopt here: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/KHR/Rabbit
