Avie's Story

Meet, Olive and Avie! These two girls were surrendered to us recently due to no fault of their own. They are Lionhead rabbits and were born in September 2023, and November 2023 (they are turning 3 years old this fall).
The girls previously lived together but now do not get along. They are looking for separate homes! Olive is the brown/agouti rabbit and Avie is the smokey black rabbit. They are friendly with people, and have now been spayed and microchipped and nails trimmed. Unfortunately, Avie came in with a bad case of ear mites, but they have since been treated (and Olive as well, even though she had no symptoms). Each girls adoption fee is $50.
Note, rabbits make great pets, but new owners should be adequately prepared for normal rabbit needs, which are much different than a cat or dog. Rabbits can live 10+ years and need ample space to exercise and play. If ill or injured, they will need to see a veterinarian comfortable with treating rabbits (not every vet is) and may require a specialty/exotic vet for medical care. For more information on proper rabbit care, see the following link: https://nessexotic.com/.../upl.../2022/04/1-Rabbits-Care.pdf
If interested in adopting, please stop by the shelter at 802 W. John St. in Yorkville, IL or call/email with questions: 630-553-9256 or animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov
