Adoption Policy

To help keep our staff, volunteers and community healthy, we now handle all adoptions by appointment. Our shelter is not open for walk-in visitors but our awesome dogs, cats and other critters can all be viewed online. This enables us to comply with social distancing guidelines while still finding loving homes.

How does this work?

If you see an animal online you’re interested in, click on the Adoption Application button to visit the Everett Animal Shelter web page and submit an online adoption questionnaire.

Our staff will review your questionnaire and contact you to discuss the adoption. We appreciate your patience as it may take up to a week to contact you. (Also, we sometimes receive multiple requests for the same animal. We try our best, but we may not be able to respond to every questionnaire submitted.)

We will set up an adoption appointment using strict social distancing protocols, and many transactions are processed ‘curbside’ outdoors. Our staff will go over appointment details when they speak with you.

Renters please bring rental pet policy at time of adoption. Not having the rental pet policy available may delay or nullify an adoption.

Animals are usually able to go home right away, so be prepared for your new pet to leave with you when you visit the shelter for your appointment.

Animals are added and removed from our website in real-time. If an animal is no longer listed on the page it usually means it has been adopted.
