Our Mission
Best Friend Rodent Rescue is a no kill, 501 (C) (3) non-profit animal shelter and rescue dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and finding homes for neglected and abandoned small animals, primarily domestic rats, from other shelters and owners who can no longer care for them. By working with committed volunteers, foster homes and local veterinarians, we are able to rescue hundreds of small animals every year, provide them with loving temporary care, and find them well-matched, carefully screened forever homes.
We also serve as a resource to our community and all domesticated rat owners by providing education, information on responsible pet ownership including the importance of spay/neuter, positive behavior training, and good nutrition for this often misunderstood and underappreciated animal.

If you are interested in adopting an amazing pet from us, the first thing we will ask you to do is fill out an application here: https://www.bfrr.org/adoption-application
Once we review your application someone will get back with you to set up an appointment to come pick out your new best friends.
Don't be intimidated by our application, we are here to help! If you have any questions or concerns please let us know. Also be patient with us in regards to response time as we are an all volunteer group and the majority of us hold full time jobs away from the rescue.
