Our Mission
More Fur Dog Rescue's mission statement is that we can always DO MORE FOR DOGS! In addition, MDFR's mission is to 1) rescue local dogs from kill shelters, needy community homes, or those surrendered to our veterinary clinic; 2) place them into loving foster homes, and then 3) find every one of our dogs their perfect loving and forever home.
Adoption Policy
We require an application-approval process, home check, adoption contract, and adoption fee. Once applications are approved, we will set up a meet-greet with the foster dog and the potential adopter. If the meet-and-greet goes well, we can schedule the adoption.
During the adoption, the dog is brought to the potential adopter's home and a home check is performed at this time. If this goes well, a final decision is made to complete the adoption. The adoption contract is reviewed and signed, medical paperwork is reviewed, the adoption fee is gathered, and we leave you with your new forever family member. You will be expected to have some supplies ready-collar/leash/bowls/etc., at least temporary ones. We will often provide you with about a weeks worth of food so that the dogs can transition slowly to their potentially new diets.
The adoption fee is generally $300 for adult dogs, $350 for puppies.
Our adopters are expected to be interested in a life-long, family, in-home pet. We trust that they have planned for potential future medical care by either a medical fund, credit card, or pet insurance. We expect our adopters to have maintained all recommended medical care for their existing pets, past owned pets, as well as continuing those for their adopted pet. We trust that our adopters have a plan for routine exercise, routine medical care, pet sitting/care while away for vacation/school/work/etc, and other necessary responsibilities of pet ownership. We expect our adopters to provide us with occasional updates of their adopted dogs, so that we can continue to celebrate how happy their lives are once they're home!
