Van Zandt Co Humane Society was formed in 2000 by a group of concerned citizens to take care of stray and unwanted animals in Van Zandt Co, Texas. Most of the area veterinarians recognize our work and help us to keep current on medical information. We are grateful for their support.
Van Zandt Co Humane Society is 100% foster based and runs strictly off of donations. Animals are cared for in the homes of our volunteers with VZCHS providing for their medical expenses. All animals in the program are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, given health checks, and feline leukemia/FIV testing for cats and heartworm testing for dogs.
Our Board of Directors is elected each year. All members who have dues current as of October 31 are eligible to vote.
All donations, monetary and in kind, are tax deductible.
VZCHS maintains a "hotline". Please call 903/962-5700 for more information.
The Van Zandt County Humane Society is committed to the rehabilitation and socialization of all animals in our care.
We adopt only companion animals and reserve the right to refuse adoptions that do not meet our adoption criteria or acceptable exceptions.
Each animal in our care is fostered at the home of the foster parent and is socialized for family life. They remain in foster care until adoption. Many of our animals are housebroken or easily trained.
Animals are not articles of clothing to be thrown out once they are no longer in style. They are able to bond deeply with their families and they deserve the same devotion from you. Adding a four-legged family member means making a lifelong commitment, which can easily be 10-15 years for dogs and up to 20 years for cats.
Our adoption events are held most Saturdays in or around Van Zandt County. Check our Events Calendar on our website at: vzchumanesociety.org.
