Our Mission
Mewtopia Cat Rescue is one of the most well-established nonprofit cat rescues in Memphis, Tenn. For nearly 26 years, our all-volunteer organization has been rescuing homeless, abused, abandoned or owner-relinquished cats. Our mission is simple: to improve cats' lives and help alleviate the suffering caused by cat overpopulation by:
placing cats with responsible owners through adoption
providing guidance on trap, alter and release community/feral cats
educating the public on responsible animal ownership.
We offer a welcoming space for cats, where they are lovingly cared for by volunteers while they await their forever homes. Once acclimated to the surroundings, Mewtopia cats are free to wander inside our facility to enjoy the many cat trees, toys, and scratching posts we provide for them and to interact with their potential adopter.
Adoption Policy
When you visit our adoption center, we will ask you to complete a quick sheet regarding the age cat you would like to adopt, number and ages of children in the home, number of adults, and pets in your home. An adoption counselor will review the sheet with you and accompany you to the cat room(s). If you find a cat you'd like to adopt, you will be asked to complete our Adoption Application, which will be reviewed by one of our adoption counselors, and either our adoption coordinator or director for approval. Once approved, you can hold the cat with a deposit or pay the entire adoption fee and arrange to pick your cat up on a specific day. All cats must leave Mewtopia in a carrier.
