Our Mission

PawZabilities PA is a 501c3 non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization serving Pennsylvania. We are dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.

We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in goes directly to the care of the animals. Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog beyond the adoption process.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.

Adoption Policy

As stated in our adoption agreement, please remember before you commit that WE CAN NOT/DO NOT REPRESENT THAT WE REALLY KNOW WHAT BREED/MIX A DOG MAY BE.

All adoption decisions are based on what we feel is in the best interest for each dog. We reserve the right to decline any application if we feel the dogs health, safety or wellbeing may be at risk etc…

Application Review Process – Once we receive your application, we will review it to see if you meet our adoption criteria.

PLEASE READ OUR CRITERIA PRIOR TO COMPLETING AN APPLICATION.

If you have pets that are not properly vaccinated or do not receive monthly preventatives, we will decline your application. This includes cats that are kept indoors at all times.
If you have pets that are not spayed/neutered, we will decline your application. This includes cats as well.
If you listed a vet reference, we will call your vet to verify your information. If you’ve owned a pet as an adult, we need a vet reference!
If you do not have a vet reference, we require 3 non-family, personal references.
Potential adopters must be 25 years of age or older. No exceptions!
For the safety and wellness of the pets in our rescue, we do not ship animals!
We only adopt to the following states – Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
We DO NOT do meet and greets for puppies under 6 months. At this age they are highly adoptable and can acclimate to most any situation.
We often receive several applications for the same dog during an adoption event or from online postings. We do not base our decision on the order in which the applications were received. We review each application and make our decision based on what we feel is the best fit for each dog. We reserve the right to decline any application that is not in the dog’s best interest.

Adoption Fees
We are an individual, private 501c3 non-profit animal rescue and entirely donation based. We do not receive funds from any outside sources; we pay all expenses from donations.

We do not give discounts or run “specials” on adoption fees. No exceptions. Owning a dog, or any pet, is a big financial commitment. The adoption fee is just a small example of this. If an applicant cannot afford the adoption fee, that is an indication they may not be financially ready to adopt a dog.

Additionally, though the adoption fee does not cover our expenses for each dog, it does help recoup some of the cost and helps us keep the rescue running.
