Our Mission

The core mission of Dolly's Cat Sanctuary and Rescue is to save the lives of as many cats and kittens as we conceivably can. This includes not just basic food and shelter but complete vetting in a safe, caring and nurturing homestyle environment with the end result being adoption into their own loving forever home. Other mission goals are to educate others in the proper care of their cats and kittens, including the need to spay/neuter, vaccinate and have regular vet checkups. The overwhelming population of homeless and abandoned cats and kittens makes us also have a mission to have more TNR projects and to train more volunteers to help us reach all of our goals as we continue to grow as a rescue. We are striving to eventually have a larger facility and storage area to help us with our mission. We also believe together we can achieve anything. We have faith that as long as we work hard and persevere others will join us in helping us with our mission. We believe all these precious lives matter, whether they are newborn or elderly. Our mission to have our sanctuary grow larger for those aging kitties in need of a soft landing is especially dear to us.

Adoption Policy

Dolly’s has three adoption programs. Fully vetted means the cat has been tested and vaccinated for FIV, spayed/neutered, microchipped and rabies vaccine administered. All you need to do is basic cat health needs, and yearly vaccines. Traditional Adoption applies to our fully vetted cats. These cats are completely vetted and ready to go home with you permanently at the time of adoption. Foster to Adopt (F2A) applies to cats/kittens who are not fully vetted. Kittens can be spayed when they are 2.5-3 pounds and are healthy enough for anesthesia. Our veterinarian will not administer rabies vaccines until kittens are 12-16 weeks. We have this program so adopters can take their kitty home sooner. In the F2A program, you take your kitty home, then at the appropriate time, we meet with you for vaccine boosters. When your kitty’s spay/neuter appointment arrives, you bring him/her to us the night before or the morning of, the procedure is completed, and in most cases, you pick up your kitty the same late afternoon and go home forever. Pre-Adoption applies to kittens who are mainly bottle babies, still nursing kittens, and kittens who are still being socialized in Foster Homes. Pre-Adoption assures the kitten you choose is the kitten you will take home. When you Pre-Adopt, we tag the kitten as yours. These claimed kittens follow the same process as our F2A process. In any adoption, when you have your meet and greet with your kitty, and you meet another kitty that is a better fit for you, unless that kitty is already Pre-Adopted, we can make that change. We want YOU and KITTY to be Happily Ever After together. Adoption fees are paid at the time you take custody of your kitty. You can pre-pay if you like, but it’s not necessary.
