Our Mission
Desert Sky Rescue is a foster-based nonprofit dedicated to saving dogs from high-risk shelters across New Mexico, giving them a second chance at life, love, and home. Our mission is to build a strong network of compassionate fosters, volunteers, and supporters who believe every dog deserves a safe place to land.
Founded in Santa Fe, Desert Sky Rescue focuses on rescuing puppies under six months, seniors, and dogs in urgent medical need. We work closely with shelters in Valencia and Roswell, as well as trusted veterinary partners and transport teams, to ensure every rescue receives proper care and a loving transition to their forever family.
Our community is built on heart, collaboration, and a shared belief that compassion saves lives.
Adoption Policy
Potential adopters must complete an adoption application and participate in an interview to ensure a good match between the pet and family. A home check or virtual home review may be required. All household members, including other pets, should be introduced before finalizing the adoption.
Adopters must be at least 21 years old and able to provide a stable, safe, and loving environment. All pets are adopted as indoor companions and may not be used for breeding or resale. If the pet cannot be kept for any reason, they must be returned to Desert Sky Rescue.
Each adoption includes an adoption fee that helps cover veterinary care and transport costs.
