For years the Liberty Humane Society has given homeless cats and dogs a chance to be adopted into loving homes. In a partnership with the City of Jersey City, under the auspices of the Mayor and City Council, the LHS took over management of the Jersey City Animal Shelter. We are working with the city to raise funds to build a state-of-the-art facility. The Liberty Humane Society has partnered with the City of Jersey City to build a new, state-of-the-art animal shelter on city-owned land located in Liberty State Park.Â
Sandwiched between the Turnpike, the Liberty Science Center and a sewage plant, our little facility (not much more than a converted garage) is filled to the brim with people who care about animals. Our committed staff and amazing volunteers work hard every day to offer the best possible life for the animals unfortunate enough to lose their homes - until they can move on to their forever families.
