Our Mission

Polk County Humane Society ensures a lifetime of safety, love and companionship for lost, abandoned and unwanted pets by: • Providing shelter and care in a safe, no-kill environment for pets awaiting a second chance, and • Adopting those pets to responsible, loving and committed homes. Polk County Humane Society works to reduce the overpopulation, loss, abandonment and surrender of pets by: • Promoting spay and neuter of all pets in the community, and • Educating on responsible and successful pet ownership.

Adoption Policy

Polk County Humane Society has a streamlined, online adoption process. Our adoption application, agreement and a payment link are on our website at: https://www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. We are open every day. We welcome walk-ins, but recommend an appointment as some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment with a potential adopter.
