Our Mission

Westfield Animal Shelter is a municipal animal shelter. The animals at the shelter are generally animals picked up as strays and all the animals come from the towns animal control covers (Westfield, West Springfield, Easthampton, and Southampton). Once an animal's stray hold is up, they are behaviorally evaluated for adoption.

If you have lost a pet, please call the animal control office as soon as possible at 413.564.3129 .  Owners will be responsible to pay fines/fees associated with the the impoundment of their animal and/or failure to follow animal ordinances.

Animals available for adoption can change daily.Shelter staff will keep this list as updated as possible.

Adoption fees are $165 for dogs, $125 for cats, and $175 for kittens. These fees are subject to change.

All adopted animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on their vaccinations, blood tested, and microchipped.

Any dog being adopted over the age of 6 months must also obtain a dog license.

The shelter generally does not do same day adoptions. If you are interested in a pet, please come to the shelter and meet our pets- if you feel one of the pets is a good fit for you, please fill out an application for adoption. The shelter staff takes a day or so to look over the application, then call to let you know if you have been approved.
