Our Mission
Our mission at Blue Island Stray Dog Project is to provide a safe haven and compassionate care for stray dogs in need.
Through rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts, we strive to alleviate the suffering of these dogs, offering them a second chance at a fulfilling life. With a commitment to community outreach and education, we aim to raise awareness about the plight of stray dogs and promote responsible pet ownership. By working tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving forever homes for stray dogs, we aspire to make a lasting and positive impact on both individual lives and our community as a whole.
Adoption Policy
We have potential adopters fill out an application (linked on PetFinder or please email Blueislandstrays@gmail.com). Once we get a potential adopters application, we process background checks, vet checks, and reference checks. We like to speak and get to know the adopter to ensure a good fit and set up the adopter and the dog for success!
Once approved for adoption, we like to conduct home visits when possible, and if a potential adopter has another dog in the house, we make it mandatory for dog meets with the other dog; sometimes, more than once.
