Our Mission

Boone County Animal Services is a government owned and operated animal control facility, certified and inspected by the State of Illinois. It is funded through vaccination registration by the citizens of Boone County. We service the animals of Boone County by assisting with spay/neuter, we offer a pet food pantry, low cost microchips and adoptions of both cats and dogs.

Adoption Policy

Thank you for viewing one of may of our adoptable pets at Boone County Animal Service's. Adoption fees for cats is $85, this includes their spay/neuter, distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, flea preventative and FeLv/FIV screening and vet wellness check. Dog adoption fee is $150. Adopt fee includes spay/neuter, rabies shot, parvovirus, distemper, kennel cough vaccinations, and a heartworm test.  

To begin the adoption process, we ask that you complete an application. This can be done in person at by visiting our shelter at 4546 Squaw Prairie Rd, Belvidere IL, 61008 or contact us to request an application be emailed to you. We will do out of area adoptions.

We appreciate your support. We do not euthanize animals for space, by adopting from us you create a space in our shelter that allows us to help another animal in the Boone County area.
