National Disaster Search Dog Foundation
Our Mission
Our mission is to strengthen disaster response in America by rescuing and recruiting dogs and partnering them with firefighters and other first responders to find people buried alive in the wreckage of disasters.
Even if a dog does not successfully complete search dog training, we promise that no dog that enters our program will ever have to be rescued again. We will find a loving home or an alternate career for every dog.
Adoption Policy
Anyone who is looking to give a great home to a great dog is welcome to submit an application, however we do give preference to applicants located in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties so that SDF staff can offer support as necessary from a shorter distance. We seek pet owners who are able to provide love, good care and plenty of exercise to any dog. All of the dogs that come to SDF are active, high energy, high drive canines, and although they may not be right for Search Work, they may be right for you!
