Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals through Education, Law Enforcement, Intervention, & Advocacy. spcaLA is an independent, nonprofit animal welfare organization serving Southern California since 1877. Adoption Policy

Adoptions are done in-person, first-come, first-served. You may submit an application in advance, but it does not reserve a pet or hold an adoption. spcaLA adoption counselors will review your application with you when come to adopt a pet. Shelter pets' breeds and ages are characterizations based on appearance, and are not meant to indicate or guarantee lifespan, temperament, disposition, lineage or actual breed. Pet profiles provide a very basic description of animals while in the shelter and may not contain all known medical and behavioral information about the pet.
