Our Mission

Alliston & District Humane Society is a 98% volunteer-run, no-kill organization that ensures refuge for stray and unwanted animals, prioritizing those abused and/or neglected. Our dedicated volunteers and foster homes act with love and compassion to find each animal a permanent home. ADHS provides the following services to the community: shelter, medical care, adoption of dogs, cats and small animals, a lost and found matching service, wildlife consultation and care, a feral cat program, and canine pound services. ADHS is also committed to providing humane education programs for children, teens and community groups, as well as partnering with local social service agencies to assist low income or marginalized communities with animal food bank supplies, vet services and surrender support as needed.

Adoption Policy

The animals for adoption are available on our website to view. https://allistonhumane.com/ The first step is the completion of an adoption application: https://allistonhumane.com/about-adoption. Applicants are assessed on the basis of their application and the needs of any specific animal. Meet and greets are set up to see if we have a match. We encourage the entire family to attend these meets, as well as other pets such as dogs. We can be overwhelmed with applications for individual dogs and you may not receive a return phone call if this is the case. If you wish to come and see animals with a private appointment, please call 705-458-9038 and leave a message on our adoption line. We also hold an open house the last Sunday of every month from 1-4pm. Please check our website for more information.
