Our Mission

With over fifteen years combined experience in animal welfare and advocacy, we came together during the summer of 2013 after seeing a noticeable need for a companion animal rescue that not only rescued homeless animals, but that also worked with local organizations whose residents were no longer able to keep their companions. Educating the public on animal behavior and responsible pet ownership became another area of interest, which would help to improve human-animal relations.

From this, the Greater Edmonton Animal Rescue Society was formed.

Our vision is simple: we are gearing towards a greater Edmonton where animals are treated with compassion and respect, and are cared for so no animal is left homeless.

Adoption Policy

If you’re interested in adopting one of our animals, we ask that you submit an adoption application, even if you’re not sure exactly which animal you’d like. We will contact you within a couple business days to go through the application and if we believe we have a possible match, we would then schedule the meet and greet.

After a completed meet and greet, if both parties are confident in the match, we would finalize the adoption by doing a home visit with the animal and as long as nothing is amiss, release the animal into the new owner’s care at that time. This entire procedure should be completed in a week, but varies according to schedules.

We do also have adoption events where a number of our animals will be present and interested families can come meet and sociali
