Wild Sage-Adoption Pending!'s Story
Sage is a 7-year-old BLM Mustang mare looking for her next person. She is a very friendly, affectionate girl who enjoys attention and has a sweet personality. Sage gets along well with other mares and would make a lovely addition to the right home.

Sage has a history of kissing spine but currently shows no symptoms or signs of discomfort related to it.

Sage has been ridden in the past, although it has been quite some time since she was last ridden. She is doing wonderfully with liberty work and has shown that she enjoys learning and connecting with her handler. She round pens well, joins up willingly, and is eager to continue learning and building her partnership with people.

Sage is good for the farrier and does well for the veterinarian. She is more comfortable during veterinary care when the vet takes their time and gives her a chance to process what is happening.

At this point, we are also focusing on building Sage's confidence and helping her become more comfortable with new experiences. We are currently working on her comfort with being touched by different objects and with having people in positions that may initially make her nervous.

She is learning to stand quietly at a mounting block and to remain comfortable while someone is standing on the block, leaning over her, and touching her. Sage can be nervous when introduced to something new, but she responds well when given time, patience, and a slow, thoughtful introduction.

Sage is a sweet, affectionate mare with a lot of potential. She would do best with someone who understands that building trust and confidence takes time and who is willing to continue her education at her pace. She is willing to learn, enjoys having a job, and has already shown that she can build a wonderful connection with her person.

Sage is up to date on vaccines, a hoof trim, and a dental. If Sage sounds like the mare for you email farmanimals@nhspca.org to set up a time to meet her! Primary Color: Grey Secondary Color: Fleabitten Grey Age: 7yrs 2mths 0wks
