Missy is a beautiful black 15 hand Thoroughbred mare looking for a companion home. She was given up due to her owners illness and lack of ability to care for her.<br/>Missy would thrive in a quiet, supportive home with a calming, patient human. She’s sweet-natured and an absolute dream for grooming—very calm, loves scratches, and enjoys being pampered.<br/><br/>Missy must have a horse buddy and does best with companionship. She’s generally easy in a herd and gets along with others, sitting more in the middle of the pecking order, but benefits from having a confident alpha horse around.<br/><br/>She does have special care needs: Missy is diabetic, has very few teeth, and requires a diet with plenty of mash and alfalfa to maintain her nutrition. She also has Cushings and needs ongoing management.<br/><br/>Missy struggles with anxiety, and in stressful moments (especially in extreme heat or cold) she can work herself up enough to sweat, so she requires medication to stay comfortable. She also has arthritis, particularly in her hind end, and can be a bit unsteady at times, supported with joint supplements.<br/><br/>Despite her needs, Missy still has plenty of spark—she’s often the first one into the barn when it’s chow time. <br/><br/>Missy is a wonderful companion horse looking for a soft landing where she can feel safe, cared for, and loved.
