Lazer's Story
Breed: Paint Horse (Breeding Stock)
Registered: APHA #618681
Color: Chestnut
Gender: Gelding
Age: 21 Years
Height: 15.2 HH
Location: Glendale, California

A good friend of mine contacted me about her beloved horse she can no longer afford to keep. This was truly heartbreaking, as I have personally known this horse since he was 5 years old. With the onset of COVID and her resources all but depleted, she was trying to try to do what was best for her horse. When I received the call that she was planning to euthanize him, I immediately went over to explain our re-homing option.

Lazer was bred by this friend. She owned his mother, trained him, and used him as her pony horse throughout Griffith Park. Lazer was diagnosed with navicular at 4 years old, but he was still comfortable enough to go on the trails over the last 15 years. Recently she noticed that he was too sore to go out on long trails anymore, and decided to retire him. She has been giving him ½ scoop of bute daily to keep him comfortable.

Lazer is an absolute lover! He is full of life and enjoys being pampered with a quiet, gentle hand. Other than his navicular issue in both front feet, he is very healthy and has been well cared for. With the right supplements and correct barefoot trimming, Lazer can live a comfortable, long, happy life. He gets along great with other horses and is not aggressive. He will let other horses take advantage of him, and is low man on the totem pole. This amazing soul is deserving of a great retirement home where he can receive the love he deserves. Because he is very sensitive, he would make an excellent emotional therapy horse. Sometimes things scare him, so he does require an experienced person.

If you have space in your home and heart for a wonderful horse that will do anything for you, please contact Saffyre Sanctuary for more information.

Serious inquiries only.
