Jane's Story

Meet Jane. Jane is a coming 2 year old Quarter Horse filly who earned her name thanks to her unforgettable "Jane Fonda" haircut that appears to be growing at approximately a millimeter a month.

Despite her rough start in life, Jane is an incredibly sweet girl. She is easy to catch and halter, stands tied for short periods, picks up her feet when asked, does okay for the farrier and loads into a trailer surprisingly well with a handful of alfalfa. To our knowledge, she has only been loaded 3 times in her life... making her willingness to load even more impressive.

Jane currently stands approximately 14.2 hands at the withers and is expected to continue growing. Prior to coming to us, it was witnessed that she was being ridden in nothing more than a rope halter. While she does appear to have some riding experience because of that... she is still much too young to be in work and should not be ridden at this stage of her development.

Jane came from a neglect situation involving other horses and being kept without access to food or even water.

RAVE Rural Animal Volunteer Effort's Adoption Policy
You must be at least 21 years old to apply to adopt. Our adoption process consists of an application, reference checks, home visits when a reference check is not enough, meet and greet and adoption contract signing. Please fill out all application fields as accurately as possible. We will not process incomplete applications. If a dog/pup is listed on Petfinder, we are still accepting applications on him/her. We do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis, but based on what we feel is the best fit for the family and most importantly, the animal. We do not keep applications on file. If you are interested in a particular animal please complete an application for that particular animal. Due to limited space and funding we are unable to, "hold" any animal to be adopted at a later time even with a completed adoption contract. We welcome out of state adopters. However, please keep in mind that you will HAVE TO come in person to meet and adopt any of our animals. Adoption fees are normally $500 for dogs $100, for cats and $1,500 for horses. However they sometimes vary. Meet and Greets are scheduled only with approved adoption applications. Please keep in mind that we do our best to make an educated guess as to the breeds of our rescued pets. In rescue we rarely see the parents of our dogs and puppies, and even when we do, they are usually mixed breeds as well. We also rarely know the age or background (behavioral & medical). We do our best to give accurate descriptions based on what we see while we have them. All animals are listed as Up To Date on Vaccines & Sapyed/Neutered because all animals are FULLY vetted before adoptions are finalized. However sometimes dog are not fully vetted when they are listed due to waiting on spay/neuter appointments.
